This Weekend in NYC

Governors Island is making real headliners this summer with Meatopia and so many other events.  This weekend, they are bringing the Black And White Festival.  It’s 2 days of partying with your favorite DJs.  Headliners DJ Vibe, Chus & Ceballos, Jonathan Peters, the Martinez Brothers, Oscar G and Chriss Vargas join a cast of over 50 talented locals spinning the hard-hitting sounds you love.  The downside?  It’s not cheap.  Tickets run from $46-115 including fees and the event goes from 4pm-1am the following morning.  Visit their site for more information.

For those of us who tried to get on line to get tickets to Shakespeare in the Park, but failed, there is another way to enjoy free theatrical works from Shakespeare.  New York Classical Theatre reinvigorate and create audiences by presenting free productions of popular classics in non-traditional public spaces like Battery Park, World Financial Center and Central Park.  There are a total of 60 performances including rehearsals every season.  This weekend, they are performing Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.  The event takes place in Battery Park (meeting place at Castle Clinton) at 7pm sharp.  I have never been to one but am looking forward to my first this weekend.  For more information about them, check out their website.
