Ice Skating, Wine Tasting and Fashion Show This Weekend in LA

Is it me or does it look like whatever NY has to offer, LA tries to outdo?  This weekend, LA’s W Hotel – Westwood is hosting their last Chill: Ice Skating And Cocktails party.  They transformed their WET Bar and backyard restaurant into an ice skating rink.  BUT, you can also snuggle up in a cabana in a blanket while enjoying a cup of hot cocoa or specialty winter cocktail.  If you get hungry, and you probably will, you can indulge on some finger foods at their Snowy Snack Bar.  It’s a total mesh of Southbeach and NYC.  Tickets are $10 each, per hour.  They are open everyday until 10pm.  Plus, what’s this deal I am hearing about snow in LA this weekend?

If wine and dine is your thing, this Saturday (1/23), IBG is hosting a wine tasting at the Wilshire Art Gallery at 3pm.  Tickets are $25 and gets you drink and hors d’oeuvres.  There will also be a silent auction where all proceeds from both the ticket sales and auction will support their charitable causes throughout the year.   Items auctioned includes goodies from Dior Beauty,, Louden Swain, “The Bonnie Hunt Show”, “The Soup” with Joel McHale, The Cheesecake Factory, Sprinkles and others.

Then on Sunday, take a trip down fashion memory lane.  The Art Deco Society of LA and Grand Vision Foundation presents the “30 Years of Pin-Up: 1927-1957, a LIVE FASHION SHOW, From Lingerie to Evening Gowns” on Sunday, 1/24 at the historic high Art Deco Warner Grand Theatre located at 478 W. 6th Street in San Pedro.  Tickets are $35 (advance) and $45 otherwise.  The evening begins with a complimentary cocktail hour at 6pm.  The fashion show featuring 80 silhouettes will begin at 7pm.  If there is one thing to experience this weekend, this is it.  For tickets, check out their website.
