The Port Of LA Lobster Festival And Music Weekend

I am completely and utterly jealous! The World’s largest lobster festival, the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival, which features fresh discount Maine lobster meals and plenty of entertainment does not take place in NYC. Lobster lovers in or near the LA area can enjoy a delectable Maine Lobster meal in a scenic outdoor park with shops at Ports O’ Call in San Pedro, California (map). The festival includes so much more than just great food, but will also have dancing, parades, street performers, a pirate camp, tall ships, shopping for arts and crafts, and musical performances by some of today’s best up-and-coming acts and tribute bands – all to capture the fun of a New England Small Town festival. Jealous, jealous, jealous!

Admission tickets are $7 with a coupon, $9 otherwise (price of meal is separate).  A portion of the proceeds will benefit certain charities, including the harbor Interfaith Services, La Piazza Cultural Center, and the San Pedro Rotary Club.

The event will take place over 3 days (Friday, September 18 – Sunday, September 20).  If I could have my pick, I would probably go all 3 days, but it sounds like THE day to go is Saturday, as officials are going to attempt to set a new world record in the Guinness Book of World Records for “The Most Seafood Prepared at an Outdoor Event”.  This is going to be an event to look out for. The World Record attempt will officially begin at 1pm and last until 9pm when the new record will be announced.

The record attempt will have two key milestones. The first milestone is when the existing record is broken  and the second milestone is when the new record is set. In each case the person receiving the milestone meal will receive a commemorative shirt and other small prizes.

Will you be there?  I unfortunately, won’t.
